Dear Sir: I have submitted a Summer of Code application, for a "solver component". I was using the words out of the Microsoft Excel Add-In columns, where the "Solver Add-In" is described as a "Tool for optimization and equation solving". I am a student at The University of Ottawa. I have used the Microsoft Excel "Solver Add-in" in the University of Ottawa "ADM2302 Introduction to Management Science" course. I know the Open Office 1.1.4 does not have this type of a solver component. I know the University of Ottawa is allowing the use of Open Office as an alternative to the use of Microsoft Office, where it makes sense. Without the solver component, every Commerce student, (because ADM2302 is a core course), must use Microsoft Excel to do homework. I request your approval for my participation in this project, under the Google "Summer of Code" funded summer job program. Why me? 1. I have passed "ADM2302 Introduction to Management Science" given by The University of Ottawa. 2. I am a student. 3. I have knowledge of programming theory because I have a Computer Science diploma from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. 4. I have programming experience. 5. I know Open Office 1.1.4 does not have the solver component, because I looked for it, again. 6. I am looking for a summer job. 7. I have Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience. 8. I have an American Society of Quality Software Quality Engineer certification. Additionally, I have taken Organizational Behaviour, English, and Human Resources courses at the University of Ottawa. I am willing to act as a team leader, to reduce your work load. I do not see any extra pay in a team leader position. I expect Google wants people programming effectively, as do you. I await your response.
