My name is Laurent TU, I am currently student at Ensimag (www.ensimag.fr) which
is a French "Grande Ecole" specialized in Computer Science and Applied
Mathematics.

This email is about the google summer code and the proposal of making a
statistical data analysis tool. The need of the spreadsheet tool matches with
mine. Since I am student in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, I can code
efficiently (C and Java for example), and my knowledge in mathematics and
applied mathematics can help in this case.

Our statistical and probility courses this year were oriented toward computer
science application and simulation : this is why I think I will be able to
handle the job. Then, it is sure there will be some points (maybe a lot) that I
do not know yet, but I am quite confident, I will not esitate to go ahead in my
books, read, learn ... My basics in Mathematics will be strong enouth.

By the way, it is an excellent opportunity for me to apply the knowledge I have
learnt this year. I will not hide you that I am interested in the money I can
earn (this is a lot of money for a student), but further, I am a fervent
supporter of free and open source software : I will be happy to contribute in
the same time. As we say in French "D'une Pierre Deux Coups" ("One rock, two
moves" , or something like that). Besides, contributing in Open Office is
something I will be proud of, for now, I use it everyday, and I can see more and
more people using it.

About the French expression, I'd better say "d'une pierre, 4 coups" since :
 - I will apply my knowledge in computer science
 - I will apply my knowledge in mathematics
 - I will earn enouth money for my student life
 - I will contribute for the first time in an open source project

I hope my profile and the work I can do will match with your criteria. I am
expecting your answer before applying on Google Website. The deadline is getting
closer and closer.

Have a nice day,
Laurent TU
