Today I was watching at Google Spreadsheets selection behaviour, some
differences:
- In OO.o Calc cell cursor is visible during selection (when dragging
over range). With bright display jumping of this black frame is a bit
disturbing. Do we need to display cell cursor during dragging? In GS
cell cursor reappears, when mouse button is released.
Does anyone else see this as a problem? The cell cursor is always near
your mouse pointer, so it doesn't distract you from your current activity.
- In OO.o Calc after selecting a range cursor stays in last cell, is
this mandatory? In which cases user needs cursor in last cell?
This is from the "normal" way how selection works (not limited to
spreadsheets): You move the cursor, and a selection extends from an
anchor to the cursor. Some like it, some don't, but it's unrelated to
the look of the selection.
Moreover, when we are selecting editable area for using Tab only for
moving ahead, we must select area in opposite direction. In GS, cell
cursor jumps after selecting a range into upper left corner of range.
Or press Tab once. It wraps around.
