As for steps 5 & 6: I prepared a draft of the announcement in advance using the description given on the SDAP project site. It's probably too much text. I can share it here if that would be helpful.
In terms of the release howto, I've been maintaining the steps of the full process including email templates so we're all prepared on that front. I'll share the link when it's finished.
