Riley Kuttruff created SDAP-517:
-----------------------------------

Summary: Support for DAAC temporary AWS credentials for Zarr (&
other) backends
                 Key: SDAP-517
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SDAP-517
Project: Apache Science Data Analytics Platform
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: nexus
            Reporter: Riley Kuttruff
            Assignee: Riley Kuttruff

Currently, backends for Zarr and (in development) CoG require the user to
provide long term AWS credentials to access the underlying data stores if the
data is stored in S3.

Many of the NASA EOSDIS DAACs (the primary source of data SDAP has been using
thus far) store their data in S3 and provide temporary credentials to anyone
with an Earthdata login to access their data direct from S3. Such functionality
would be useful to prevent having to store long-term creds in Solr, instead
refreshing the creds from a fixed endpoint provided by the user as needed. We
can also include aliases for popular DAAC cred endpoints.
