Summary from above -- Databricks cherry picked some capabilities in DBR 8 and 9 from Spark 3.2 which are not officially in Spark 3.1. Calling attention to PR https://github.com/apache/incubator-sedona/pull/557 which is for updating Sedona 1.1.1 to work with Spark 3.2.
