Hi Thejas,
I’m excited to see your interest in Sentry! Indeed we are thinking about how to
take the project to next level, how to enable more use cases and integrate with
additional components in Hadoop ecosystem. Some level of HDFS integration seems
crutial given the way people are using Hadoop today when the same data set is
being access via multiple different execution engines (Pig, MR, Hive, …). I
know that several people on the project are playing with various ideas how to
enable HDFS integration, but I don’t think that any real proposal has been made
yet and hence there is no JIRA or wiki page talking about details.

Considering the importance of this topic I’m more then happy to facilitate a
discussion to see how we can approach this integration. I think that we should
formalize ideas that everyone have in mind and upload them to either wiki or
perhaps just send an email to the dev list. Feel free to start if you have cool
ideas on your mind as well!
