You obviously not understood the issue. Either serf or scons need to check 
wether the compiler require ANSI C mode. GNU autoconf does this. It is just bad 
user experience not to do so. If you think that this an error in scons, I will 
happily report this upstream. You should at least add this information to the 
README.
