I can't see that this property is used anywhere in the pom directly so I wonder if this even has any effect? The only worry I have is pulling a SNAPSHOT if a user builds from the *-src kit. However, I think the servicemix dependency versions are all named in the dependencyManagement section of the kernel pom, so unless I am missing something, I think this might be harmless even for building from the src.
Any other thoughts?
