Awesome Chris.
It looks very fine and professional.
As discussed before, we should work on website and doc before releasing
ServiceMix 4.3.0 and 3.3.3.
I will work on doc/scalate tomorrow (it's in my TODO :)).
Thanks again Chris

Hi All,
The project web site redesign looks like it hasn't gotten any
attention recently and I have been doing some web development anyway,
so I thought I would take a shot at something similar to what the
community has already agreed on. The link below is a screen shot of a
scalate generated landing page (I used Eric's sandbox work as a
starting point).

The landing page is a bit rich in content and graphics but I liked the
idea of a featured content section (with the rotating content common
in commercial sites) and the getting started boxes carried over from
the previous concepts. The actual content pages (docs, tutorials,
etc) will be slimmed down a bit more than this one and will have a
left side navigation menu specific to the section you are in
(Documentation, Tutorials, Project Info, etc) but will carry the same
theme. I'll work on those and post some screenshots if everyone likes
this direction.
WDYT?
Chris

I've got some of Lukaz's stuff incorporated into the scalate SMX web
site in the sandbox at
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/servicemix/sandbox/website20. I still
need to pretty up the search box. I wasn't keen on the left side
image, so I left it off. However, I can add it back in if the
community likes it.
cheers

I can get the header updated to match the example. I'd just need the
images used to create the logo.
The clip art from the boxes are nice as well. I'd like to add that as well.
Or Lukasz's intern could do the update. Either way works.
Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric,
the dropshadows are looking quite nice.
Loving the boxes on the right side a lot.
For the header I would recommend using the latest approach of splatch design
proposal
( see http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/1718/servicemix46.jpg )
Can we try to get a unified version of both approaches?
Best regards,
Lars

I've got a fairly complete version of the ServiceMix site working in the
sandbox at https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/servicemix/sandbox/website20.
Not all of the pages from the wiki are there, but enough to get a general
sense of things.
What do you all think of the visual design, navigation, etc?
I added some color to the drop down menus and a shadow to the boxes.
Should I continue down this path?

I smoothed out the logo placement by removing the space between the image
and the name. I also added some space for the menu as Gert suggested

I did some tinkering on the new website. For the logo I put in this is
just for getting an idea so far.
As soon as our new logo is finished the top bar should be reworked from
scratch.

Scott Christopher,
Yeah, I have been able to receive the attachment just fine and Lars
will include the patch into some other work he's currently doing on
the website project. Thanks for helping us out with these bits -- we
really want the new website to shine, so all the help we get is
welcome!

- only mention the latest 4.3.0 release on the home page in the
download box -- I'd also try and see if we can come up with a little
javascript that offers the correct download link for the current
platform, so people can get their hands on the software as easily as
possible (similar to what e.g.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/firefox.html does)
I've attached a simple patch for index.page that detects whether to
opt for the tar.gz or zip download based on the navigator.appVersion value
in the browser.
Happy to lend a hand with any javascript required.
Well I thought I attached a patch. Do attachments get stripped on this
