Hi Krzysztof

agree, I have also images and dockerfiles for SMX.

And the karaf docker feature that I started is also SMX compliant of course.

Hi

I think the theme is interesting for us too. We should once provide Dockers
images for ServiceMix too. It would help to
build more complex solution based on ServiceMix. I think, we should synchronize
with JB and his karaf-docker solution.

Hi,

I thought this information is valuable for Karaf.
Looks like it is possible now to

a) Maintain a custom Docker Project
b) those docker images are automatically published as apache resources

This sounds like a great improvement, now we only need a good docker
project for Karaf ;)

Subject: Re: ASF project-wide Docker registry use

I have registered the apache org with docker hub and all images would be
available as apache/<$PROJECT>:tag. Each project will be able to manage
their tags and versions via a git repo that is controlled by the project on
git-wip as <$PROJECT>-docker.git. The service will automatically pick up
these repos and generate the images from them for each listed tag and then
push them to docker hub. This is very similar to how docker hub manages
their official images, only difference is that the source will be here at
the ASF and able to be controlled by each project and only one location for
credentials will be managing the apache org on docker hub (similar to how
we do github integrations).

Hi!

sorry for the wide distribution, but members@ actually
seems oddly appropriate for what I'm about to ask: I am
trying to reach PMCs interested in publishing Docker images
for their ASF projects on central Docker registry.

Personally I come from a PMC (Bigtop) that would benefit
from treating Docker registry the same way ASF treats
Maven central, but I'm interested in figuring out two things:
     1. how many PMCs would also have a strong use case
around Docker images as alternative means of making
      their project available to end-users.

      2. if we have enough interest in #1 what would be the right
place for use cases to be discussed so we can come up
with a list of requirements to be suggested to ASF INFRA team.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Roman.
