We aren't actually incrementing the version on the master pom ... it's
currently "1-SNAPSHOT" and will likely stay that way until we're ready for a
Shale release (at which time, IIRC, we'll need to release the master POM
first without a SNAPSHOT version identifier so that the published Shale
release can point at that).

Because the master pom install is *not* part of a normal Shale build, you
need to remember to "cd maven/master-pom/ ; mvn install" whenever it
changes, so your local repository is always up to date.  (For myself, I've
modified the nightly build script to do that for me every day, to ensure
that the nightlies are always built with the most current master POM).
