Dear Mentor, I am a junior student from Huizhou University, currently focusing on Java backend development. This year will be my first time participating in the “Summer 2025 of Open Source Promotion Plan,” and I hope to use this opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world system architecture and open-source engineering practices.
Recently, I independently built a lightweight relational database system inspired by open-source implementations on GitHub. The project includes core components such as data storage, transaction management, MVCC, indexing, and logging. In addition, I have contributed several small fixes to large-scale open-source repositories on GitHub, which helped me gradually become familiar with collaborative workflows in open-source development. While exploring the participating communities, I became particularly interested in the Apache ShardingSphere project—especially its transaction management, SQL routing, and plugin-based architecture. Since this is my first time applying to the Summer of Open Source, I would love to hear your thoughts on whether my background aligns with this year’s project direction. If you have any suggestions on beginner-friendly modules, issues, or learning resources, I would greatly appreciate your guidance so I can prepare in advance. Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response and hope to have the opportunity to contribute to the ShardingSphere project.
