Hi Mark, Ate,

I think both of you will be at the Utrecht OpenSocial Meeting
(<http://blog.opensocial.org/2010/10/first-european-opensocial-event-in.html>),
right?
Yes, I'll be there too.

our platform (end of this year) we will have a rather advanced portal
that is also mostly in sync with Shindig 2.0.0. We have a strong focus
on the 'formal' use of groups for collaboration, we have osapi and oAuth
support, advanced placing, handling and sharing of gadgets and we also
added SAML based authentication. Some screenshots can be found here:

We are also looking at bringing this into an open source license (most
likely Apache 2.0) and hopefully have a community around that as well.
Yes, the COIN project certainly looks very cool.

It seems we have similar goals here ;)
Indeed!
I think there are several projects out there which have many similar/overlapping (base) features which might benefit from a joined/shared community effort.

As Mark suggested, lets find a time/place to chat and meet to discuss such
shared interests and goals.
Maybe my proposal for a meetup at the ApacheCON/Atlanta was a bit too short
notice but we'll see :)
The OpenSocial meetup early December in Utrecht looks like a good next
opportunity, great!

Ate,

Let's make a point of finding a time/place to chat. Are there folks either
in NC or CA? If so, I'm sure we could get a group together to start this
discussion. What about other conferences? Anything on your list? (We've got
the OpenSocial event in Europe coming up in early December.)

Hi Mark,

Too bad you can't attend, but I'm aware of the OpenSocial Enterprise meetup
happing next week as well.
If not for the ApacheCON I might have been interested to join that meeting
instead.
Well, some other time surely.
I'd like to start participating on the OpenSocial and Shindig groups
shortly anyway.

About our meetup, I'll provide a follow up afterwards and send a notify
here as well.

Ate

Ate,

This does look interesting! I would love to attend, but unfortunately,
I've got other commitments next week. Hopefully, someone else from the
OpenSocial community is able to attend.

I've also cross posted this on the Shindig list to see if there's
anyone going from there.

Regardless, when you update the page with notes, etc... would you ping
here again so we can keep the conversation going?

[intentional cross-posting multiple lists]

Dear all,

Just sending this as a heads up across multiple user lists to inform you
about a BOF/Meetup we're organizing at the ApacheCON in Atlanta
next week which might be of interest to some of you.

The above subject probably says it all, but for more information, please
check the Meetup wiki page at:

    http://wiki.apache.org/portals/MeetupAtlanta2010/

Short summary: we'd like to brainstorm with interested members of the
community and related projects (you!) about a possible
new OpenSocial/Widget/Gadget based Portal Project not based on or tied to
the Java Portlet specification.
What features should it provide and who would like to participate?

If you're interested and at the ApacheCON next week, please come by on
Wednesday 3rd between approximately 20:00 to 22:00 in room 4.
For latest information about exact time and place and for other Meetups
at the ApacheCON, please check:

    http://wiki.apache.org/apachecon/ApacheMeetupsNa10

Hope to meet you there or elsewhere at the ApacheCON!

Regards,

Ate Douma
