Hi Brian, I checked the PR and I'm agree, we need to go deeper on this.
I think it make sense to make some modifications on the Shiro's annotations to be more compliance with the JSR ones, it will help us. As we have some works to do, I think it's better to postpone this to another release ( 1.6, may be major 2.0) because it will have some changes in the actual annotations.
