Hello all

The deadline for submitting a talk proposal to the next ApacheConf is
February 12th. For the first time there is a geospatial track planed, so
I would like to take this opportunity for making connections with other
projects. In order to help Apache SIS to better focus on various project
needs, I would like to know which kind of support from a low-level
geospatial library would be expected in priority by Tika, Marmotta,
Magellan, Lucene or any other projects? Apache SIS currently provides
(with focus on standards):

  * Geospatial metadata.
  * Referencing by coordinates (e.g. map projections).
  * Do our best for hiding complexity of the above (i.e. few key methods
    that developers can use while ignoring the rest).

Some next topics on the radar are (not yet started on Apache side, but
we have code elsewhere that can be used as a basis):

  * Coverages (a.k.a. rasters or imagery)
  * More complete support of time
  * Rendering of maps
  * Geometries
  * Spatial index

Is there other things that projects would be expecting? Does anyone
would like to said some words about how those items could be used by
their project?

        Martin
