I think that Android has only the interfaces but no implementation by default? If yes, then the evaluation of third-party implementations could be part of the project. The "sis-build-helper" module is used only at build time; it does not need to be part of Android product. So it is okay to not port that module and use the "sis-build-helper" deployed by other SIS branches for building the Android branch. About the build system, trying Gradle seems a good idea. But is the Maven support really dropped? I didn't saw an indication of that on internet. If Maven support still exist, would it be possible to update the Maven support in parallel with Gradle, at least for some time? Moving to Gradle may require porting the "sis-build-helper" Maven plugin to a Gradle plugin. Do you have university classes during all the summer, or only until the exams in the first 4 weeks?
