For exits, SliderLauncher calls Hadoop's ExitUtil, but I don't see anywhere in the slider-core test code where we are coming in at the entry point that does the catch/exit logic. You can disable those exits ( a switch directly for testing), via some methods to turn off the halt() and exit() operations. Maybe there's some library we are using (dfsClient?) which triggers it in some circumstances. All of the Hadoop code goes through ExitUtil.exit/halt, so will be blocked
