Hi, The ASF is not yet officially accepted to participate in Google Summer of Code 2010, but participating organizations will be announced soon and there's a fair chance for the ASF to be included in that list.
Sling committers are welcome to suggest projects that they'd like to mentor. You just need to create an issue in our JIRA, with the same labels as SLING-1437, so that the task appears at http://tinyurl.com/asfgsoc which is the official list of ASF GSoC 2010 projects.
