I'm fine with doing it for all renderers. I started with HTML because that's the type I use the most. As for the output, I think leaving it on for all sounds right. I don't even think we would need to truncate it. If a user wants to output a novel that's their prerogative.

Or just leave it on be default and truncate the output in HTML if it's too long? If you agree, it might be better to discuss such things on the sling dev list - that allows others to chime in and they often have good ideas. -Bertrand
