Robert Munteanu commented on SLING-11843:
-----------------------------------------

Perhaps some data would help ... I have created a rough script at
https://github.com/apache/sling-aggregator/pull/9 which helps with generating
an 'all' pom for the Sling modules.

I get 286 successful builds and 64 failed ones for {{
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib64/jvm/java-11 mvn compile --fail-at-end }}. Compared to the
current 26 failures from https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Sling/view/Monitor/
that is quite a lot. I'm running a full build right now, but that will take
some time.

> Currently our Jenkins jobs by default only run on JDK8 with Linux.
> I would propose to change the default (mentioned in
> https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SLING/Sling+module+descriptor#Slingmoduledescriptor-DefaultValues)
>  to
> * Build with JDK 11 and 17 on
> * Windows and Linux
> Although this might break some builds, I think it is time now to make all
> modules compatible with it once we touch it for whatever reason.
