I fully agree with that. Upgrading to 3.x (which is almost EOL as well) would
be waste of time.

Thanks, Oak has to follow eventually as well, Tika 1.x is EOL - and I think it
makes more sense to move to the latest 4.x version

Sorry my comment refers to the Oak side of things:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-9752.
Not sure how much value it is to upgrade Sling to 4.x as long as Oak still
depends on 1.x.

Hi,
Tika 4.x got rid of XML configuration being leveraged in Oak, so this will be
hard to upgrade in a backwards compatible way:
https://tika.apache.org/docs/4.0.x/migration-to-4x/migrating-to-4x.html#_configuration_xml_to_json
All API related to XML config has been removed only a standalone tool for
conversion is available:
https://tika.apache.org/docs/4.0.x/migration-to-4x/migrating-to-4x.html#_automatic_conversion.
This conversion exceed the time I can spend working on this, so any volunteer
here would be greatly appreciated.

I haven’t checked though if it works fine again in OSGi.

Konrad

With Tika 4.x being out, I guess we could try that now?

Hi,
I don’t think Oak is blocked by SLF4J v2.
Look at the comments and the branch related to
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-9752.
Main issue is that Tika v3 currently does not work in OSGi
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TIKA-4698).
One fix was merged for the upcoming v3.3.2.
Another approach was taken for Tika v4 (only available as alpha version).

I think you missed my point. We fix it the right way for Sling . If Oak moves
as well, great, done. If Oak does not move, well then it needs that wrapper
bundle to run new and old Tika version side by side.

Carsten

AFAIR, Oak is actually blocked by not being able do update SLF4J, no?
