As the maintenance tasks run asynchronously, the used services might get
deactivated while the maintenance task is running. Although the task itself
checks the configuration object for being valid, it does not check any service
it accesses. This might run in an NPE.
While the NPE itself should not pose a problem, it's not the best way to stop a
maintenance task
