The intention was that it should be available by default with a standard config
suitable for Sling launchpad (probably basic probes, exposed in JMX) so that
writing custom JMX metrics beans becomes largely unnecessary, and every Sling
instance gets metrics. It could be moved to /contrib, although nothing in the
code base makes it specific to Sling.
