Yes, it's a lot of code :) Regarding the old ResourceProvider/Factory support,
there is {{LegacyResourceProviderWhiteboard}}, which picks up all old RP
services. Once such provider is registered, it's wrapped into
{{LegacyResourceProvider\[Factory]Adapter}} class and registered back in the
OSGi with appropriate properties.
