It would be nice to include https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-6482 and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-6577 because currently it is way too easy to undeliberately destroy the logging configuration. Maybe someone could have a look? I am not feeling familiar enough with the code base to apply a patch here but my first analysis is available at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-6482?focusedCommentId=15888195&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-15888195.
