It seems this also happens for external links with a different extension than
html.
For example, for
*${'http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/~schmidt/PDF/reactor-siemens.pdf' @ extension
='html'}* the resulting URL is
"*http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/~schmidt/PDF/reactor-siemens.html*"; (.html
instead of .pdf)
