Welcome Michael! From: [email protected] At: 10/07/21 14:44:41 UTC+1:00To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Welcome Michael Gibney as Solr committer
Thank you all for the welcome! I work as a software developer at the University of Pennsylvania libraries (Philadelphia), with a focus on indexing and search. I am particularly interested in search precision, semantic concept navigation, synonyms/hyponyms/hypernyms, faceted classification, hierarchical faceting, and performance at scale. Less obviously relevant to Solr: I am interested in social and technological aspects of trust (security, privacy, authentication, non-repudiation, etc.); I am also a musician. Notably on the Solr side: I have collaborated on SolrCloud replica routing affinity (particularly relevant to distribued cache usage), various JSON Facet improvements (e.g., efficient full-domain "relatedness" -- a.k.a "significant terms" -- collection), and incremental work towards `Filter` removal. Looking forward (and with due deliberation!): I hope to critically consider my recent proposal for "polyField" TextField docValues, and perhaps advance a longstanding proposal to add a cache for term facet counts ... though before all that, I hope to merge Dawid's recent work facilitating joint Lucene/Solr development build! I am profoundly honored to have been invited to join the Solr project as a committer. I am daily inspired by the encouragement, advice, criticism, respect, and technical excellence that define this community, and I look forward to contributing to the community in that same spirit.
