Hey folks, I stumbled upon this bug while skimming a solr-user question
the other day -- i did some git bisecting and found what commit caused the
problem, but I only have a guess as to what the problem actually is.
I'm not sure I'm going to have much time to kep digging -- but it seems
pretty heinous, so I'm hoping other smart(er) people can take a look
ASAP...

In particular, the implications of this bug seem REALLY bad for people
who have followed the recommended instuctions for disabling
autoCreateFields via the Config API (instead of modifying the
solrconfig.xml directly)
