Yes, please use descriptive comments for all bugs.  Either mention a bug
number and a short description of what changed (not the bug, but what
you fixed "bug NNNN: changed foo to do bar because xyzzy was broken") or
include a very brief summary of the major changes.

-1 on non-descriptive log messages.

Malte, could you start using bugs for significant changes?  This
doesn't really belong in the Makefile, I think.
