Okay, so I thought about these things and here's my take:
- it definitely didn't belong in Mail::SpamAssassin
- we rarely (if ever!) use that part of the diagnostics provided by
the spamassassin script, usually we can pin down the module and end
up asking for just the one version -- major version problems are
already spotted at build or run-time as Larry Wall intended.
- I also didn't like that the module list was hand-maintained separate
from the one in Makefile.PL (which also led me back to point #2).
I suspect we could turn this into a plugin too, but I'd like to hear some
suggestions about where to put this -- I'm not really sure the spamassassin
script is right either given point #2.
I'll reopen the bug, but I'd prefer to not revert the patch for now.
