I'm still pretty confused what your issue is, but it's sounding like you're
running SA 3.0.1 and have
configurations that weren't upgraded per the UPGRADE document. ie: they use
"rewrite_subject 1" and
likely "subject_tag <something>" instead of the new 3.0 way using
"rewrite_header Subject
<something>".
It's also possible that you're trying to rewrite the header post-SpamAssassin
markup based on the
score, and there's a parsing issue as you've described. In that case, you need
to find out what's trying
to do the rewrite and talk to the appropriate folks there.
