Giving an idea of speedup [or not :-(] would be useful. I don't think that there are any recent tarballs - everyone tends to get the current source from the rsync server. Something like rsync --delete -avz rsync://ftp.linux.activestate.com/perl-current/ ~/Perl/bleadperl-src/ Nicholas Clark
