FWIW, that's the section which spawns a new child:
($child->[$i],$parent) = $io->socketpair(AF_UNIX,SOCK_STREAM,PF_UNSPEC)
or die "archive-iterator: socketpair failed: $!";
Creates the socket pair for the parent and child to chat, then does a fork()
on the next line.
