This has been tried several times, without much luck -- fundamentally, while it appears that it will help, it generally results in overall *slower* scan times, due to the overhead it incurs. What we hope to do is "pluginize" the check() function in Mail::SpamAssassin::PerMsgStatus, soon, which will allow third parties to override the default method of how mails are scanned.
