I have the following in my configuration: bayes_auto_expire 0 bayes_journal_max_size 0 bayes_learn_to_journal 1 To take care of the housekeeping, I have a cron job every 10 minutes that does a 'sa-learn --sync' and a cron job that runs once a day that does a 'sa-learn --force-expire'. That way, a child never has to do any bayes maintenance. The cron jobs run scripts that have logic to make sure that sa-learn is not run if another is still active.
