!!!  This, however, works:

    svn up -r 381595
    svn up -r 381595 rulesrc

ie. run the command separately for the two areas.  in other words it's
an "svn update" bug.  I'll report it.

It is certainly very important that the nightly mass-checks be performed
using the correct revision; if you mass-check using an earlier or later
rev, your data will be ignored by the backend!
