It should, yes, but it doesn't.  In all of the __alarm__ cases I've seen, there
has never been a "spamd: copy_config timeout..." written to the log.  When the
alarm fires in the eval, $@ (or $err) is blank.  I added some additional "warn"
calls to verify this.
