Summary: header rules
Product: Spamassassin
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: Rules
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following rules should be removed. They classify email from our webmail
system as spam when sending to several providers that are using Spamassassin
(don't get me wrong here, we do have many users). Additionally, these rules do
not obey to standards which do not have such requirements at all.
PRIORITY_NO_NAME Message has priority setting, but no X-Mailer
Comment: There is no requirement having x-mailer set when using priority.
PRIORITY_NO_NAME Message has priority, but no user agent name
Comment: There is no requirement having user-agent set when using priority.
MISSING_MIMEOLE Message has X-MSMail-Priority, but no X-MimeOLE
Comment: There is no requirement havnig x-mimeole set when using x-msmail-
priority. The reason for our webmail using msmail-priority is that it has more
options and it is useful for people reading email with Outlook. If we create a
fake x-mimeole field just to get rid of this rule, then our webmail might get
points for trying to pretend to look like Outlook ?
If there are more rules like this I suggest them to be removed. These rules
are created by looking at how some mailclients generate email. Others, which
generate email strictly 100% rfc compliant, can still create mail classified
as spam and are hurt by these rules.
I am sure Spamassassin do not expect me to email every single user of their
product and tell them to remove these rules for general settings. I suggest
Spamassassin move them to "very high" spamsettings if there is such an option
and don't use them for default settings.
Thank you
