I don't see the \d* as a problem, and there could be more than 5 digits if the
MUA/browser wants to deal with it like telnet does:

$ telnet localhost 262166
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_4.3p2 Debian-2gg1


(that's port 22 wrapped around 16-bit 4 times ...)
