I had toyed with the idea of using Ubuntu's Rosetta for translations, which would allow translators to do it via the web -- but: (a) when I asked, they weren't supporting upstream products, just ubuntu, and wouldn't allow translation of unreleased code -- pretty useless for upstream development!
