'I'm afraid that some distros will omit sa-update from their base install and
we'll end up with a whole lot of "what's sa-update, why don't I have it, how do
I install it" questions. What's the upside to not including it? The evals are
preventing a dependency problem for anyone who doesn't want to use it, right?'

not really. the eval trick just hides the dependencies from RPM's
over-aggressive dependency-detection.

If the package allows spamassassin, including sa-update, to be installed without
installing the optional sa-update-required modules, then when the admin runs
"sa-update", they'll get an error. It would be cleaner for packagers to either

a) have the spamassassin+sa-update package require all modules incl the
sa-update dependencies, or

b) split into 2 packages.
