Using bleadperl (which has most of the memory leaks fixed, apparently), we see a
much better picture:

I think this is definitely leaks in perl, not in SA itself, accordingly.

(BTW, in passing, note the massive improvement in memory usage -- 24MB per
process vs 38MB! must look into that. maybe it's just that I have less of the
optional modules compiled for 5.9.5 compared to 5.8.7... still, pretty amazing)
