Why do you inhibit the auto-learning entirely when the short-circuiting occures?

IMHO, it is pretty understandable requirement to auto-learn (e.g. as a ham) when
a short-circuit rule fires (e.g. USER_IN_WHITELIST_WITH_AUTOLEARN from the
attachment 4076 local.cf.snippet) - "do not waste time checking an e-mail from a
hammer but auto-learn from it as a ham"...

The short-circuiting with auto-learning combination could save lots of
assassinating mail server resources while keeping its bayes databases
up-to-date.
