Sounds like a mismatch between a core perl and modules, which may have
been installed with an older version of perl.

When upgrading perl, best practice is to ditch all existing perl modules
and re-install them afresh. Otherwise you risk a mismatch when some
module with XS code is expecting full ABI compatibility with a changed
perl, which more likely than not will fail in unpredictable ways.

Also, perl modules (like BerkeleyDB, DBD-mysql) using some library
(like libdb, mysql client lib) which has been upgraded, need to be
reinstalled in most cases, after the underlying library has been changed.
