Bug ID: 7142
Summary: TxRep defaults to anti-OSS BerkeleyDB database
Product: Spamassassin
Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Plugins
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
I was interested in testing out TxRep. Unfortunately it seems to want to use
BerkeleyDB via DB_File. BerkeleyDB is highly undesirable these days, due to
its hostile licensing by Oracle
(http://www.infoworld.com/article/2611450/open-source-software/oracle-switches-berkeley-db-license.html),
and is being dropped from various distributions. There seems to be no Redis
support, which seems to be contradictory to where Bayes itself is headed, and
SQL support is not desirable for my use case. Are there any plans to add
support for Redis or LMDB, a true OSS (and highly more performant replacement
for BDB)?
