Hello all,

I am Sarang Shrivastava, an open source enthusiast. This year in the Gsoc
2015 a series of events happened after which I landed up here with SA.
I made a proposal for SA "Building a statistical classifier plugin for SA"

A brief abstract of it
The overall idea behind this is to build a statistical classifier plugin
for SA which encompases within it various supervised and unsupervised
machine learning algorithms so that in case of repeated spam patterns
additional overhead computations are lowered and the possibility to learn
from result symbols of known messages is further improved upon. The focus
being on Neural networks and its various models (MLP, RBF, SOM), Support
Vector Machines (SVMs) and Hidden Markov models.

The link to my proposal is:

ON googling about the possibilities of applying ANN for spam filtering ,
but I got mixed results
some say that they are not that good,
but I got some papers that prove that ANNs can be applied to spam filtering
and they can be personalized depending from person to person.

1) Can you guys just tell me the reason why ANN's are not included as a
filter with SA?
2)If anyone amongst you tried to implement it, what were the difficulties
you faced ?
3)Can anyone of you guide me somewhere that makes me beleive more that yes
I am moving in a right direction ?
