It may be a good idea but it needs to be an RFC standard and have a standards
body promoting it before it's going to have any chance to gain adoption.

I tried reading the documentation and found it a bit confusing.  Also, large
mail platforms would have to maintain a lot of DNS MTX entries of all edge mail
servers sending directly on the Internet.

If most mail servers can't get SPF correct, I am not sure how they will be able
to get MTX correct.

If each site is going to have to maintain their own whitelist, then it's never
going to achieve major adoption.  There would need to be a curated central
whitelist and getting concensus on entries could be as challenging as defining
the word "spam" to each mail admin.  Everyone has a slightly different opinion
on what is spam based on different mail flow and customer/end-user
expectations.
