Bug ID: 7643
Summary: False positive DATE_IN_FUTURE
Product: Spamassassin
Version: 3.4.1
Hardware: Other
OS: FreeBSD
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: spamassassin
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: Undefined
I'm seeing false positives from several of the DATE_IN_FUTURE family of tests.
I believe I have found the fix, which will hopefully help you determine what
the real problem is.
I've been noticing it more since I brought up a new server with 3.4.1. It may
have been there earlier, but I was not noticing it as much.
I believe almost (if not) *every* email passed through is showing a
DATE_IN_FUTURE. I was seeing it with little scripts I've hacked up that did
not have a "DATE: ..." header line, so at first I suspected that was related.
In the end I'm not sure.
I believe what's causing this is a mismatch between sa-spamd and
spamass-milter. When I start seeing the problem, I will stop both these
deamons, and start them up again. This *appears* to fix it for a while.
Now please note, that when this is happening, I am unable to a tidy shutdown --
'service spamass-mailter stop' will hang indefinitely. I've tried 'kill',
'kill -HUP', no good -- only kill -9 works. Then a 'service spamass-milter
start' will bring it back. I have no idea if this failure to shutdown nicely
is related.
