    Let Freenode know if we're shutting it down. They distinguish between
    official and "topical" channels which prevents this sort of issue.

Activity is relatively low, and message count is a crude metric. But people do use the channel, and questions get asked and answered there, and discussions happen, however infrequently. The low activity in the channel could very plausibly be attributed to a lack of visibility on the website and Wiki.

In any case, I see no need to shut it down. Why not increase its visibility instead?

This thread began with Bill Cole asking about improving the channel by updating the topic and possibly adding new operators. It seems wrong that a constructive proposal to improve something instead results in a decision to simply shut it down (from people who were not even aware of nor users of it, no less).

And FYI, Darxus is in the channel, and the topic has been fixed.
